The Blacksburg Band Program is a comprehensive 6-12 Band Program located in Montgomery County, Virginia in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the New River Valley.
The award-winning bands at Blacksburg Middle School, under the direction of Brian Quakenbush and Shane Mercy, feed directly into the Blacksburg High School Band Program. Blacksburg High School is home to award winning Choir and Band programs as well as a robust theater program. The Fine and Performing Arts are well supported by our local community, our school administration, and the Montgomery County School Board. The band program at Blacksburg High School is made up of two full concert bands, the Blacksburg High School Marching Band, pit orchestra, and various student-led chamber ensembles. Under the leadership of Darrell Pearman, The Blacksburg High School Band Program is one of the most honored band programs in Virginia. The Band has earned the designation of "Virginia Honor Band" 31 times, more than any high school band program in the western half of the Commonwealth. To earn that designation, the performing ensembles must receive "Superior" ratings at state assessments in both Marching and Concert Bands. Our students are ranked among the best in Virginia as we continually place students in All-District, All-Region, and All-Virginia Band events. Many of our alumni have gone on to perform at the collegiate level at some of the best music schools in the nation including: Arizona State University, The Manhattan School of Music, The Cleveland Institute of Music, Indiana University, Peabody Conservatory, Shenandoah Conservatory, The University of South Carolina, The Julliard School of Music, James Madison University, George Mason University, Furman University, and Virginia Tech. Our graduates have performed around the globe as members of some of the finest orchestras in the country including The Cleveland Orchestra and The Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Any band student can help raise funds for the Blacksburg Bands Each dozen will cost $16. Orders are due February 20th.
