Marching Band Show Shirts!

  • It's time to support the Band of Legends Marching Band by repping your very own "Come Sail Away" t-shirt! Orders for friends and family will be taken for 3 Weeks Only
  • Use the Zeffy form at this link - https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/come-sail-away-marching-band-shirt - or visit the merchandise table behind the band at the next home football game before September 18th.
  • T-shirts come in sizes XS-XXXL and cost $20.
  • Please note, all Marching Band students received a free shirt with their dues - this order form is for additional friends and family orders.

Required Health Forms
​Each marcher needs a health form completed to be able to travel with the Marching Band for competitions and overnight trips.

  • Returning members need to verify their health form from last year; if there are no changes, we can use the form from last year.
    • Parents: please see Kate on the 3rd or 4th after rehearsal or by the merch table at the game on the 11th to verify information.
  • New members need to fill out the health form and turn it in.
  • All members will need to fill out the medication form for the overnight trip if a student needs medications.


  • Please fill out the following health form and return it to Mr. Pearman by Sept 15th.
  • These forms are taken to all competitions and overnight trips.
  • Medications will not be carried by staff/adults for competitions.
  • Medications will be carried by staff/adults for the overnight trip.
  • For the overnight trip, if a student needs a daily medication, a medication form also needs to be filled out and signed by a doctor. This is a form that will be turned into the school nurse by Oct 1st. If you have already done this, Mr. Pearman will get this information from the school nurse.
  • Students can carry emergency medications themselves, but forms still need to be filled out and turned in.

Football Game DetailsHere's what you need to know for the Friday football game:


  • If you are volunteering, Teresa Wilson will reach out this week with more details.
  • Call time to the BHS band room is 5:30 for students and volunteers.
    • Students can stay after school to hang out with their friends; they often walk to Food Lion for snacks. This is a parent and student choice. If you go home after school, just make sure you are back and ready with instruments and uniforms on at 5:30 pm.
  • Wear your black shirt with the Blacksburg Band logo.
  • Wear black shorts/pants or jean shorts/pants with sneakers.
  • Bring your band duffel to put things in.
  • If you have long hair, pull it back in a ponytail.
  • The game starts at 7 pm for parents who are not volunteering and want to watch. Games generally last around 2.5 hours. Cash only for entrance.

A Note from Mr. Pearman

Remind is being replaced with Parent Square. This app has the same features as Remind, but with the app you can look at a post stream similar to Facebook. BMS and BHS schools need to be separate, so there is a group for BHS Marching Band Students and Parents and a group for BMS Marching Band Students and Parents.


Once you download the app and create your account, please add yourself to the marching band group.

Marching Band Rehearsals once school starts (8/11): Marching Band will meet every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (when there is not a football game). Rehearsals are 3:15 -5:15 at BHS.

Calling all Volunteers!
  • As a reminder, we need all hands on deck to make this season run smoothly; each parent is asked to volunteer for one thing this season. Please see some opportunities below.
  • Kate will be hanging the senior banners in the stadium starting at 4:15 PM on Wednesday. If anyone can help, please email her ([email protected]) directly.
  • We still need help painting our waves! Students can join their parents to help. Please email Teresa ([email protected]) if you are interested.

A note on uniforms

Black band pants were sent home with students this past week. Please see this link for instructions about hemming the black band pants. The document has some links for people who will hem for a small fee if you don't sew or know someone who sews. Iron-on hem tape works great too.

VT Concessions

We are again working the VT concessions at VT home Football games this fall as one of our major fundraisers. If you work a game in the VT concessions, we'll provide a $100 credit to your student's account. This can be used for next year's marching band fee.
It does require a background check before you work. Right now, I am taking names and contact info for anyone who might be interested. There are a limited number of spots for this activity.
